Museum Fatahillah

The museum is often called the Museum Fatahilah, but its official name is the Jakarta History Museum. As the name implies, is showing the way digedung Jakarta since ancient city of Batavia. Colonial-style buildings with the surroundings are charming old buildings.

This museum was originally the City Hall Building (Staadhuis) in Batavia first built in 1627 (additional to the original buildings built between the years 1705 to 1715). In 1970 the building was renovated and on April 4, 1974, was inaugurated as the Jakarta History Museum.




Apart from being Staadhuis, this building is also a College van Schepen (Municipal Council) which handles a variety of criminal and civil cases antarwarga city of Batavia. Collection
Jakarta History Museum displays include relics from the prehistoric period, replica relic of Tarumanegara and Pajajaran and Betawi culture collection. The most famous collections in this museum is the Antic-century furniture that shows 17-19 European style, China and Indonesia.
Other collections stored in the Jakarta History Museum is the VOC era coins, various dacin / scales, antique furniture from the 17th century - 19, archaeological objects from the pre-history, Maa Hindu Buddha until the Islamic period, ancient cannons and flags Fatahillah era. There are also paintings by Raden Saleh, a portrait of Governor-General of the VOC and old maps. Tanah Abang
